Partisanship
Sometimes, I wonder if people really comprehend what they write.
Cheers and Jeers: Wednesday by Bill in Portland MaineWhat is this thing you Earthlings call...politics?
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary."
---H.L. Mencken
And this doesn't apply to Democrats and progressives, how?
"A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." ---George Bernard ShawWhere in hell does a Democrat get off using this quote (from an avowed socialist and supporter of Stalin, for fuck's sake!!!) approvingly? Democrats are 100% behind the principle of robbing Peter to pay Paul. And Patricia. And Phillip. And Pavel. And Pablo.
"No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session" ---Mark TwainThat's for gawddamned sure, so why would a Democrat quote it right before an election where most analysts are predicting that the Democrats are going to regain the House of Representatives? In fact, why have this right beneath a quote that succinctly exposes most of the reason why people vote in the first place: to have wealth stolen from other people in order to funnel it their way?
"All political parties die at last by their own lies." ---John ArbuthnotWho is Bill trying to fool here?
"The American political system is like fast food: mushy, insipid, made out of disgusting things---and everybody wants some." ---P.J. O'RourkeAnd he ends by quoting a libertarian.
Gawd DAMN I hate election season. Malignant humans arise to shatter and confuse concepts, advocate ruin as a value, and seek to tighten the state's grip on our freedom. They want you to follow their lead.
