Stealing from Criminals

Deputies will learn Taser use

The Harris County Sheriff's Department has bought 161 Taser guns and will train as many as 200 patrol deputies in their use by July, according to sheriff's Maj. Mike Smith.

Sheriff Tommy Thomas said the devices, which fire high-voltage non-lethal darts to subdue violent or potentially violent suspects, cost about $1,000 each and will be paid for with money seized from criminals.

My emphasis.

I hold no sympathy for people who violate the rights of others when they receive punishment, but this idea of seizing their property to pay for goodies like this seems wrong. I'm not certain how the property seizure laws work, but if the property is taken as punishment, it should go to the victim(s) of the crime, not to enrich the armory of the law enforcement agency who arrested him.

Please be advised I have seen my husband Tony Guidry this morning and I believe he has probably suffered from a Stroke. His Heart Rate is 125 or somewhere in the HIGH level. He is having some of his speech coming out slurred. I beleive he is in severe danger. Apparently it is not too late since he is currently breathing, but I am deeply concerned for his current situation. He asked me why I was wearing a different ring on my wedding finger. I told him well I wanted to put something on, so this fit. Over a year ago my wedding ring diamond fell out of my ring never to be found again. We drained and took down our waterbed. We searched everywhere and could not find it. Then Tony's daughter let us use her diamond from her setting from her 1st marraige and this was my anniversary gift. Then a month later the diamond cracked from prong to prong, so it sits in my jewelry box. Tony does not remember this.

In addition, Tony's INR Blood level is BAD. I have been asking for over a week to find out his INR level but I am guessing it is against the law to inform me of this level. I guess if the level was good you would of offered it to me the first 10 times I have requested. I seem to only be able to find out how bad my husband is after the close calls. I understand it is against the law for me to know when my husband is near death or headed to the emergency room.

In addition, Judge Wallace has taken Dr. Seales medical report and District Attorney Mike Trents recommendations under advisement and has decided that Tony can make it another 31 days in his jail. I respect his decision, although I feel he was mislead by Dr. Michael Seale as to Tony's current medical condition. I do not feel Tony is or has been stable at all. I am not sure why the records and reports are not showing that, or maybe the wrong tests have been taken but Tony is in trouble and without assistance may very well die.

I am only concerned for Tony's well being. I have been asking for someone (ANYONE) to please help. I cannot believe that my husband has undergone Blood Transfusions, Surgeries, Change of Medication, and Now suffering from a Stroke, all while under Harris County medical care.

Tony is on Coumadin, this is a very severe medication that keeps his blood pumping correctly through his entire body. This is a very serious LIFE THREATENING condition. Now he was taken to LBJ for the 3rd time on May 13, 2004 and outpatient surgery was performed. NO COUMADIN was administered on May 14, 2004.

Basically, I am concerned about:
1. Tony's INR level. Is is "Therapuetic?" Therapeutic for Tony is at 2.0. If it goes low he could have a heart attack, stroke or death. If it goes too high, well this is why he had 20 units of blood transfusions 3 weeks ago. Too high of an INR and he will internally bleed, eventually bleeding out. They told Tony when he got to LBJ, a couple of hours more and he may have died.

2. Why isn't Tony getting his Coumadin like clockwork, every day. This is very crutial to Tony's entire body.

3. When Tony's INR is not "Therapeutic" it must be monitored by blood work and someone who is a specialist in this (almost like a chemist) to adjust his strength of his Coumadin so that he can get Therapeutic. I am sure Tony's Cardiologist Dr. Avendano would be more than happy to assist Dr. Michael Seale should he need any assistance. Dr. Avendano's telephone number is: (281) 893-8640.
4. I am concerned for the surgery that occured yesterday on his testicles. Where is the infection coming from, what caused it? Because of his Diabetes I am so concerned that this area is going to get infected.
5. I am also worried about Tony's Heart Rate. Usually when it is over 100 it is very serious. That means his heart is pumping too much trying pump the blood through his veins.

Anything that can be done to help Tony in this matter would be greatfully appreciated. We are at your mercy.

Sincerely,

Denise Guidry

Here's an email received in February 2005 from these people:

Jessica Guidry

14447 W. Lee Shore Dr. * Willis, TX 77318

(936) 890-4728 * Email: dguidry@peoplepc.com

Hello,

My name is Jessica Guidry and I am 15 years old. My dad has been disabled for the past several years. He has a very bad heart problem. In fact he had to be taken off the heart transplant list due to him not being strong enough to withstand the procedure. His condition has forced my mother to be his full time caretaker, and unable to work out of the house. Although my parents have tried very hard to provide everything I would ever need, I know that it has been very difficult. For the past year I have been home schooled for a better education and I am doing great. I have just completed this past term with a 4.0 grade point average. I have been trying to help my mom with my dad’s care more and more. My mom wants to go back to work. She has worked and worked so hard, she has gotten us a great home and in a place where she can operate a nail salon, tanning, and selling beauty products. My dad and I believe that this all can work and that it will lift a huge burden off our entire family. I would be able to care for my dad and do my home schooling while my mother worked.

My mother is a licensed nail technician in both California and Texas. She had a very successful clientele and had done very well. But this is where I desperately need your help. My family has no money to start this business. Thank god for a donation that will allow her to do nails. But she still is in need of a fumigator fan or some type of air purifier for her Salon. It is our hopes to have a Nail, Tanning Beauty and Specialty Boutique. My mother gets calls to this day by both her clients as well as salons she worked in asking her to return. I know she is working very hard to go back to work. She would love to return and be able to work in her shop Nails by DENISE. I was just wondering if your company ever makes donations for people in our situation. I really hope so; anything you can do would be so appreciated. All I am trying to do is put my mom in a position to be able to care for our family. A financial donation would not be refused, however I am asking for donations of your products to retail in our store. If a donation is out of the question, please consider allowing us to take your products on consignment. We also are need of posters, bags and décor items. I hope that you will help, anything you can do would be forever appreciated.

Wishing,

Jessica Guidry

April 5, 2005

This is a special request and I am sure hoping that there is someone out there that will help me. My name is Denise. I am a licensed manicurist and have been for the past 20 years. Unfortunately I am in a very difficult position. For the past 6 years I have been the caretaker for my husband who is a heart patient. He suffers from many different problems such as: CHF, COPD, Ischemic Heart Disease, Diabetes, Diabetic Neuropathy, TIA Strokes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Sleep Apnea. Each day he has 21 different medications to take, some of them more than once a day. Luckily he is still here with us. We have a daughter who is now 15 years old.

I have been wanting to go back to work. Tony still needs my help, but our family is and has been suffering financially for some time now. A family of 3 just cannot live on $ 714.00 a month. So last November my daughter (with my husbands help) began to get outside help from a leading Nail manufacturer to get me set back up as a manicurist. They have been so nice to set me up with a manicuring station and some needed implements. I had no idea this was happening, but I had already sent off for my manicuring license to be renewed, and it is. We have found a wonderful location for our home. On this property there is a small building where I am going to have a Nail & Tanning Salon with a Boutique.

The problem I am having is the Tanning Beds with the accessories to sell to my clients for their tanning packages. I have been trying to get 2 stand up tanning beds, (one with lights, and one that sprays). Well I have not been able to obtain financing for this with my income and my credit status and there doesn't seem to be a light at the end of this tunnel. So, all I know to do is tell you the truth about my dilemna and ask for help, and hope for the best. Do you have some type of a donation fund, or some type of benevolance to assist individuals in situations such as mine? If not, I am hoping that you please make an exception.

If there is any possibility that you will help me and you are just wondering if I am being truthful, please do not hesitate to request verification of our circumstances. I will forward immediately.

Sincerely,

Denise Guidry
