It really is amazing how insane these Republican Christians are:
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said Mr. Bush's failure to ask Congress to get to work on an amendment negated his other initiatives."If we throw out 6,000 years of human history that says marriage is between a man and a woman, then the rest of that doesn't matter," Mr. Perkins said.
No. Only restricting the definition of marriage to heterosexuals is of paramount, almost catastrophic concern.
Not that I go out of my way to find these things. I have enough things alternatively irritating and exasperting on my plate as it is. :)

Then again, this is detachment-from-reality on a whole different scale.

Oh,man, I agree so much. I am a college student (an old baby boomer gone back to school). The cheap tuition in Kansas led me to unfortunately attend a Kansas school. I am in a "religion and psychology" class with a right-wing Christofascist teacher and a bunch of students who crawl right up my ass everytime I say something like "but God is different for everyone" or "the founding fathers were Deists". The "teacher" went so far as to bring in a Fox "news" film about how the secular humanists are threatening Christians' rights to for Christ's sake say Merry Christmas and keep Ten Commandments crap on state property. I am sick of it and about to go to the administration with it, these people are nuts.
