Rick Perry's Gay Signature

[Note: It appears increasingly less likely the gay sex rumor is true.

UPDATE(3/5/2004) 10:42am
In addition, Governor Perry has directly denied the rumors.]

My previous fears turned out to be true. Senator Jeff Wentworth is the original author of SB 7 and I hope he's happy he has contributed to the continuing atmosphere of second-class homosexual status. I'm sure he'd be completely understandable if it was his relationship on the line.

Texas Gov. OKs 'Defense of Marriage Act'

Gov. Rick Perry signed a law preventing Texas from legally recognizing same-sex unions that are formed in other states.

[...]

"Like the vast majority of Texans, I believe that marriage represents a sacred union between a man and a woman," Perry said in a statement. "With passage of the Defense of Marriage Act, Texas now joins more than 30 states in reinforcing that basic belief."

Some Republican you are. If you gave a damn about the principles you are suposed to uphold, you and the people who voted for this bill certainly wouldn't be wasting your time trying to erect a state barrier to homosexual marriage. If you gave a damn about reason, you wouldn't use "everyone else is doing it!" and "the majority agrees with me so I'm right!" fallacies to justify this crap.
Tuesday's signing of the Defense of Marriage Act makes it the 37th state to enact such a law, said Kelly Shackelford, president of the Plano-based Free Market Foundation, a group that describes itself as dedicated to strengthening families.

Then there are hypocritically-named institutions like this. There's nothing related at all to a "free market" in this bill. It's quite the opposite. And how does this strengthen families? It certainly weakens homosexual families. But who cares about them, right?

Social conservatives piss me off.

Rick Perry was caught in the Texas State Capital having sex with another man in the last 3 weeks. The other man's identity is not known, but he is also a higher official for the State's Attorney's office. So, what does Rick have to say now. Watch as the news breaks here in Texas....

Really? I was wondering why so many searches for "rick perry gay" kept popping up recently. Thanks for the heads up. Should get interesting in Austin...

I heard tonight it was the secretary of state and that Mrs. Perry has moved out of state. the rumours are flying around Univ. of Texas where I heard this. another ex-gov employee confirmed the rumour (not confirming the fact - just confirming the rumour)!!

Call Drudge! Oh, wait, uh, forget it.

Y'know, it ain't the homosexuality-- it's the hypocrisy! Governor Goodhair has allegedly been living a lie.

If true, his infidelity might remove Gay Marriage as a 2004 campaign issue.

Bye bye Chimpy!

Were is this story coming from? Is this just a bunch of disgruntled employees or is there some truth to it?

Posted by: CEM on February 19, 2004 04:19 PM

Who knows? It's too early to tell whether it has any validity to it, but the Net and the blog community is picking up on the story at an ever-increasing pace. It can't remain dark and "undiscovered" for much longer.

Perry's wife can't be behind it. Would Lt. Gov. Dewhurst be so desperate for the job he'd take down his boss...and why do it when it would seriously hurt the Party and it's image, not to mention there's actually MORE power being Lieutenant Governor in Texas than Governor. Possibly a pissed-off aid who doesn't want to cover for Perry any longer?

Could be self-loathing. He hates the things he does so he takes it out on everyone else and pretends to assume the moral high ground.

It is true. I work for Goodhair. He has offered lots of money to pretend it did not happen. For those who are trying to play hardball (no pun intended), he is asking them to claim it was a female staffer.

Gov. Rick Perry's boyfriend in question is Sec. of State Jeff Connor. Got it from LubbockOnline.com message boards.

Posted by: Ellen on February 25, 2004 09:57 PM

Well, so far no one has turned up any actual evidence supporting these claims. The Austin Chronicle's most recent issue says they found "no evidence of any truth to any of [the rumors], whatsoever."

So don't jump to conclusions yet.

I go to Austin High School, where the daughter of Governor Perry, Sydney, also goes. Rumors have been flying around AHS as well, and a lot of us are hoping that like the character Luke in "The OC" Sydney, considered by most up 'til now to be a complete bitch, will get more friends, and become a better, more accepting person if infact her father turns out to be gay.

I was involved in a threesome with Rick and racecar driver Jeff Gordon. I shit you not, my face was pressed flat against a window looking out on 11th Street. I saw a tour group passing by on the sidewalk outside the Governor's Mansion right outside. It really freaked me out because I swore this old bluehair in a sweatshirt with a teddy bear on it glanced up and looked me dead in the eye right as Jeff started to ball me while Rick was eating out of his hands.

I tell you, Rick is a hoot. A big hoot.
