Iraqi Kurd women fighters cross a street in the front of Chamchamal's military headquarters near the frontline with Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s troops on March 21, 2003. U.S. and British armured forces thrust deep into southern Iraq (news - web sites), meeting only sporadic resistance on Friday, and the United States said it still hoped to topple President Saddam Hussein without an all-out war.
